A pump has a housing defining a pump chamber and having a shaft opening. An impeller shaft extends through the shaft opening and is sized to define a gap between the impeller shaft and the shaft opening. An impeller is attached to the shaft inside the pump chamber. The impeller includes a first set of impeller blades for transporting fluid through the pump chamber and a second set of impeller blades for creating a pressure force which pushes fluid away from the shaft opening. The pump with sealless shaft prevents fluid from leaking through the gap, and therefore is particularly suited for use in a tank-type vacuum cleaner capable fo collecting both dry material and fluid. The gap is used in such an application to prime the pump, thereby discharging fluid collected in the tank.
L'invention concerne une pompe comportant un logement définissant une chambre et possédant une ouverture d'arbre. Un arbre d'entraînement est disposé dans l'ouverture d'arbre et conçu pour définir un orifice entre l'arbre d'entraînement et l'ouverture d'arbre. Un rotor est fixé à l'arbre à l'intérieur de la chambre. Ce rotor comprend une première série d'aubes destinées à transporter le fluide vers la chambre et une seconde série d'aubes destinées à créer une force de pression éloignant le fluide de l'ouverture d'arbre. Cette pompe pourvue d'un arbre étanche empêche le fluide de s'écouler par l'orifice, et convient donc particulièrement pour une utilisation dans des aspirateurs à réservoir pouvant absorber à la fois des matières sèches et des matières fluides. L'orifice est utilisé dans cette application pour amorcer la pompe, et décharger ainsi le fluide collecté dans le réservoir.
