A mallet that has a center mallet and an outer mallet surrounding the outer periphery of the center mallet and in which both the center mallet and the outer mallet can slide and can be pressed, wherein the mallet has a relative position limiting means for limiting relative positions of the center mallet and the outer mallet, the relative position limiting means limiting a first position at which the head of the center mallet projects from the head of the outer mallet and a second position at which the head of the center mallet and the head of the outer mallet substantially meet each other. A rotary compression forming machine having the mallet with the double structure is also provided.
