ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A punch press is provided in which the clamping means of a workpiece feeding and positioning means will not interfere with the lower punching tools thereby avoiding damage to both the tools and the clamping means. The dead zone of the workpiece which cannot be punched is decreased thus leading to greater economy of operation. This is achieved by arranging for the lower punching tools to be lowered to a non- interfering location.
