The invention provides a pierce die that omits a large pad and requires only a minimal portion for contacting and pressing a work, thereby reducing the portion to be machined as much as possible. There is provided a punch stripper comprising a pierce punch, a punch retainer holding the pierce punch, a cover which covers the pierce punch whereby a leading end portion of the pierce punch protrudes through the cover, wherein the cover is fastened to the punch retainer, a stripper which forms a sleeve around the pierce punch, for pressing the work before piercing of the work by the pierce punch, and for securing the work during removal of the pierce punch from the work after piercing, the stripper being slidably received within the cover and having a stop flange in a rear end for engaging an upper wall of the cover, and a coil spring which is located within the cover for bringing the stop flange into contact with the upper wall of the cover, and for biasing the stripper toward an outer side.
