ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The system used for the purification and aeration of open water incorporates a floating housing that has openings for the introduction and discharge of water and for the introduction and exhaust of air or other gases. Because of the formation of an under-pressure in that portion of the housing that lies above the surface of the water, air or other gases are passed to an air-receiving chamber that lies below the surface of the water that is found within the floating housing and which is claimed at the top by means of a nozzle plate through which the air rises in small bubbles through the water above it, thereby giving up oxygen to the water and removing volatile substances from the water.
