ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides in a process for filtering off solid constituents from waste water obtained in a papermaking process in which the raw material entirely or part- ly consists of printed waste paper, comprising the successive steps of subjecting the waste water to a flocculation treatment, separating the flocculate and subsequently dividing it into a fibre mass and a substantially fibre-free suspension of waste material in water, from which suspension, after the addition thereto of a filter aid, solid waste material is separated by filtration or centrifuging, the improvement in which there is added as filter aid to the suspension from which the usable fibres have been substantially removed the material which has been mechanically removed from the paper pulp prior to the papermaking process.
