Abstract of the Disclosure Glycol impurities in aqueous sodium isethionate solutions are readily removed by extraction with an ali- phatic alcohol containing three to four carbon atoms. The use of the purified sodium isethionate results in improved processing of detergent bars containing coconut acyl isethionate prepared by direct esterification of sodium isethionate with coconut fatty acids.
