New purified mite allergens having the following properties: 1 being contained in fecal extracts of mites in culture; 2 glycoprotein containing more than about 70% sugar; 3 a weight-average molecular weight: 70,000 to 80,000 (as determined by the sedimentation equilibrium method); and 4 possessing allergen activity. or, 1 being contained in fecal extracts of mites in culture; 2 glycoprotein containing more than about 40% sugar; 3 a molecular weight: 1,500 to 5,000 (as determined by the Sephadex G25 gel filtration method); and 4 possessing allergen activity. The above purified mite allergens are useful as a pharmaceutical and a diagnostic composition for mite allergic diseases.
