A composition containing polyunsaturated fatty acid glycerides is purified by means of supercritical fluid fractionation in one or more countercurrent columns operated either with internal reflux achieved by a temperature gradient along the column or with an external reflux achieved through external regulation of the pressure, and using as the solvent a mixture of supercritical CO2 and a polar co-solvent. Oligomeric and malodorous impurities in particular can be successfully removed by this process, which also can, if desired, be followed, or preceded, by another supercritical fluid fractionation with supercritical CO2 under conditions adjusted so as to favour fractionation of the glyceride components.
On procède à l'épuration d'une composition contenant des glycérides d'acides gras polyinsaturés au moyen d'une opération de fractionnement par fluide supercritique dans une ou plusieurs colonnes à contre courant fonctionnant soit avec un reflux interne obtenu par un gradient de température le long de la colonne, soit avec un reflux externe obtenu par régulation externe de la pression, et en utilisant comme solvant un mélange de CO¿2? supercritique et d'un cosolvant polaire. Les impuretés oligomères et malodorantes notamment peuvent être éliminées avec succès grâce à ce procédé, lequel peut également, si nécessaire, être suivi ou précédé d'une autre opération de fractionnement par fluide supercritique avec du CO¿2? supercritique dans des conditions ajustées de façon à favoriser le fractionnement des composants des glycérides.
