ABSTRACT Novel pyrido[2,1-b]quinazolinone derivatives of the formula I Image (I) [in which X represents cyano, hydroxyamidocarbonyl, carbamoyl, tetrazol-5-yl, carboxyl or a physiologically tolerable salt (with a base), ester or amide of a carboxyl group, R1 represents H or methyl, R2 to R5 each represents H, halogen, C1-C4-alkyl, trifluoromethyl, carboxyl, thiocyano, methylthio, methylsulphinyl, methyl- sulphonyl, methylsulphonimidoyl, methylsulphonamido or a physiologically tolerable salt (with a base) of a carboxyl group, with the proviso that at least 2 of R2 to R5 represent H] and physiologically tolerable salts thereof with acids and processes for the manufacture of these compounds. The pyrido[2,1-b]quinazolinone derivatives and their salts have an antiphlogistic, antipyretic, analgesic and antiallergic activity and may accordingly be made up into pharmaceutical preparations with suitable carriers.
