The invention provides an electrode for the electrochemically reversible interconversion of the oxidised and reduced versions of a pyridine nucleotide comprising: an electrically conducting surface; an isolated pyridine nucleotide dehydrogenase module of an enzyme; wherein said isolated pyridine nucleotide dehydrogenase module is applied to the electrically conducting surface. The isolated pyridine nucleotide dehydrogenase module may be the I.lambda. subcomplex of bovine mitochondrial NADH : ubiquinone oxidoreductase. Electrochemical cells comprising these electrodes are also provided by the invention.

Cette invention se rapporte à une électrode servant à la conversion électrochimiquement réversible des versions oxydées et réduites d'un pyridino-nucléotide comprenant : une surface électroconductrice ; et un module pyridino- nucléotide déshydrogénase isolé d'une enzyme; ce module pyridino-nucléotide déshydrogénase isolé étant appliqué à ladite surface électroconductrice. Ce module pyridino-nucléotide déshydrogénase isolé peut être le sous-complexe I.lambda. de la NADH : ubiquinone oxydoréductase provenant de mitochondries bovines. Des cellules électrochimiques comprenant ces électrodes sont également décrites.
