Fluorinated 1-cyclopropyl-7-(2,6-dimethyl-4-pyridi- nyl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acids of the formula Image (wherein R is hydrogen or lower-alkyl, and R' and R" are hydrogen, fluoro, or -SR"' where R"' is phenyl, benzyl or lower alkyl) are antibacterial agents. They are prepared via a coupling reaction between the corresponding esters (R = alkyl) having a halo group in the 7-position and a 2,6-dimethyl-4-(trialkyl- stannyl)pyridine.
