ABSTRACT Disclosed are compounds displaying improved preferential serotonin-1A binding activity. The claimed compounds have the formula: Image wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydroxy, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, and hydrogen; R2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; X is CH or a nitrogen atom; ALK is a saturated, branched or unbranched, aliphatic hydrocarbon having from 1 to 7 carbon atoms; and Z is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, trifluoromethyl, or lower alkyl; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
