ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE New and valuable pyrocatechol ethers having the formula Image where R1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R2 is lower alkyl, lower alkyl substituted by halogen, methoxy, ethoxy, or benzyl; R3 is phenyl, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, .beta.-chloroethyl, alkoxyalkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl or acyl; R1 and R2 together with the carbon atom whose substituents they are and R1 and R3 together with the carbon or oxygen atom whose substituents they are denote a five-membered or six-membered ring, and processes for their production. The new compounds arc important intermediates for the production of active ingredients for plant protection agents and pharmaceutical and veterinary products.
