A fluidized bed pyrolytic carbon coating apparatus (1) is provided for coating substrate surfaces with pyrolytic carbon. The preferred coating apparatus (1) includes a fluidized bed reactor (10) having a reactor chamber (22), a gas feed inlet (24), an exhaust gas outlet (26), a source (12) of process feed gas and a gas line (14) through which the process feed gas can pass from the source (12) of process feed gas to the gas feed inlet (24) and into the reactor chamber (22). The gas line (14) includes an actuator (20) which acts to vary a rate of flow of process feed gas through the gas line (14) into the reactor chamber (22) such that the rate of flow into the reactor chamber (22) cycles regularly and consistently over a period of time so as to create a pulsating gas flow and a pulsation effect upon the fluidized bed within the reactor chamber (22).
L'invention concerne un appareil (1) de revêtement au carbone pyrolitique par lits fluidisés, servant à revêtir des surfaces de substrats avec du carbone pyrolitique. L'appareil (1) de revêtement préféré comprend un réacteur (1à) par lits fluidisés doté d'une chambre (22) de réacteur, d'un orifice d'alimentation (24) en gaz, d'un orifice d'échappement (26) du gaz, d'une source (12) de gaz d'alimentation de traitement et d'une canalisation de gaz (14) par laquelle le gaz d'alimentation de traitement peut passer, depuis la source (12) dudit gaz à l'orifice d'alimentation (24) et dans la chambre (22) du réacteur. La canalisation de gaz (14) comprend un actionneur (20) servant à faire varier le débit ou flux de gaz d'alimentation de traitement à travers la canalisation de gaz (14) et jusque dans la chambre (22) du réacteur, de telle manière que ce débit ou flux, entrant dans ladite chambre (22) effectue un cycle régulier et cohérent au cours d'une durée de manière à créer un flux de gaz pulsatoire ainsi qu'un effet de pulsation sur le lit fluidisé situé au sein de la chambre (22) du réacteur.
