ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pyrometric sheath in which, in order to, inter alia, enhance the response time of the protected thermetric sensor, a partition of relatively high thermal conductance is hermetically bonded-to the surrounds of an opening in a thermally insulating body. In a preferred arrangement, a thin metal foil partition is chemically bonded to an insulating tube of a refractory oxide ceramic.
