ABSTRACT Substituted-1-arylpyrrole compounds of formula (I), below are useful as pesticides, inparticular for the control of insects, arachnids, and nematodes. Processes to make the compound and intermediates used for their preparation are described. Additionally, compositions containing the compounds and methods of use therefore are provided. Image (I) wherein typically preferred substituents are: X is RS(O)n, in which n is 0.1. or 2 and R is CH3, CF3, CCl3, CF2Cl, CFCl2 or CF2Br; R2 is CN; R1 is H, F, Cl, Br, or SCH3; R3 is H, F, Cl, Br; X1 and X4 are individually H, F, Cl, CH3, OCH3, SCH3; X2 and X3 are each H: and Y is CF3, CF3O, H, Cl, or Br.
