Abstract The novel pyrrolidine derivatives of the general formula Image I wherein R1 signifies hydrogen or lower alkanoyl, R2 signifies hydrogen or lower alkyl and R3 signifies hydrogen, lower alkyl or a group of the formula -(CH2)n-NR4R5, n signifies a whole number of 2 to 4 and R4 and R5 each signify hydrogen or lower alkyl or R4 and R5 together with the nitrogen atom signify a pyrrolidine, piperidine, piperazine or morpholine group which is optionally substituted by one or two lower alkyl groups, and acid addition salts of compounds of formula I which are basic are useful in the control or prevention of cerebral insufficiency or in the improvement of intellectual capacity. They can be manufactured starting from partly novel starting materials and are used as medicaments, for example in the form of pharmaceutical preparations.
