ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Benzamide derivatives useful as antiemetic or antipsychotic agents are disclosed. The benzamide derivatives are of the chemical formula Image wherein R is methoxy, amino or chloro; X is hydrogen or chloro; Y is hydrogen or chloro; and Z is hydrogen or chloro. A preferred compound within the above formula is 3-chloro- N-(1-ethyl-2-pyrrolidinylmethyl)-2-methoxybenzamide, and its pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts.
