158 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A system for tracking and managing costs related to a manufacturing process by monitoring particular cost drivers. The system integrates into a manufacturing system in order to link cost information directly with items used in the manufacturing process. The cost information includes costs related to containers, control formulas, and items used in the manufacturing process. A cost bucket structure identifies discrete cost elements, associated with cost drivers, for the corresponding containers, control formulas, and items. The system also includes the ability to track and cost inventory, for use in the manufacturing process, according to multiple material properties of the items stored in the inventory and used in the manufacturing process.
