ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Multiple castings are cut into billets, combined in a transverse transport facility, separated into billets to be inspected or not, recombined and cooled. Transportation includes two transverse facilities and two longitudinal facilities, combined in various ways. The transportation is carried out with at most one pivoting action and cooling is provided for along- side one of the multiple transport paths with overall accommodation to sub- sequent transport of billets out of the system.
