Quasi self-contained system for electric energy storage and power supply, that can be installed on the axles or carrying bogie of railway carriages or road trailers in order to provide an electric traction or braking force without any external supply, and to assemblies, convoys and trains including at least one such system. The recharge energy from the energy storage system is mainly obtained by regenerative braking and generated by the inertia of the convoy or the traction of the power car. The energy stored is redistributed in the form of a traction force when necessary. The system includes a controller that is independent from any external control.
