A ballistic fabric (20) having unidirectional ballistic resistant yarns (22, 24) in at least two layers. The layers are at 90~ .plusmn. 5~ with respect to each other. The ballistic resistant yarns are stabilized by being woven in a second fabric formed of yarns (26, 28) having a substantially lower tenacity and tensile modulus than the ballistic resistant yarns.

L'invention concerne un tissu (20) pare-balle comprenant des fils (22, 24) unidirectionnels résistants aux balles sur deux couches au moins. Ces couches sont orientées à 90· .plusmn. 5· l'une par rapport à l'autre. Pour stabiliser les fils résistants aux balles, ceux-ci sont tissés dans un second tissu formé de fils (26, 28) présentant une ténacité et un module d'élasticité en traction sensiblement plus faibles que les fils résistants aux balles.
