This invention re- lates to non-hydrolyzable non-irritating, hair, skin and textile substantive salts of a para-dialkylaamino benzamide having formula (I) wherein R' and R" are each selected from the group of C1 to C2 alkyl; n is an integer having a value of from 2 to 6; R is an alkyl radical having fiom 1 to 30 carbon atoms; R1 and R2 are each selected from the group of C1 to C4, alkyl, hydrogen and, alternatively, R1 and R2, together with the attached cationic nitrogen atom can form a 5 to 6-membered heterocyclic ring selected from the group (a, b, c, d, e, f and g) and X is an anion These benzamide derivatives are active sunscreening agents which are usefully employed at a concentration of from about 0.5 to about 10 wt % in a formulation requiring protection against the harmful effects of sunlight, such as skin burn, hair damage, color fading, etc

La présente invention a pour objet des sels d'ammonium quaternaires d'un dérivé de para-dialkylaminobenzamide de la formule (I), non hydrolysables, non irritants, entretenant les cheveux, la peau et les textiles. Dans la formule, R' et R'' sont sélectionnés chacun dans le groupe des alcoyles C1 à C2; n est un nombre entier ayant une valeur de 2 à 6; R est un radical alkyle possédant de 1 à 30 atomes de carbone; R1 et R2 sont sélectionnés chacun dans le groupe des alkyles C1 à C4 ou l'hydrogène, ou bien R1 et R2 peuvent former, avec l'atome d'azote cationique fixé, un hétérocycle à 5 à 6 éléments sélectionné dans le groupe (a, b, c, d, e, f et g) représenté; et X est un anion. Ces dérivés de benzamide sont des agents de protection solaire actifs, qui sont utilisés avec succès à une concentration de 0,5 à 10 % du poids environ dans une formulation assurant la protection contre les effets nuisibles de la lumière solaire, tels que les coups de soleil, la détérioration des cheveux, la décoloration, etc.
