A quenching mechanism for slurry pumps comprises a radial or inclined array of grooves at the rear end of a rotary seal ring. A quenching water, flowing along a fixed seal ring and through a gap between both the seal rings and a baffle sleeve, is forced to flow to the outer periphery of the rotary seal ring by the pumping action of the grooves, thereby achieving an increased cooling effect.

La présente invention a pour objet un mécanisme de refroidissement rapide pour pompes à boue; le mécanisme en question comporte un réseau de rainures radiales ou inclinées à l'extrémité arrière d'une bague d'étanchéité rotative. Après avoir pénétré par un écartement entre les bagues d'étanchéité et la chemise d'une chicane, l'eau de refroidissement est forcée de s'écouler vers la périphérie extérieure de la bague d'étanchéité rotative sous l'effet de pompage produit par les rainures, ce qui entraîne un refroidissement amélioré.
