In a multipoint-to-point link, packets (T) are transmitted over a shared medium to a central node (10) in response to permits (TP). The central node (10) issues permits to a multipoint node (20) on the basis of a queue size record (11) held at the central node. The queue record is updated on receipt of a queue size report (request for permits) (RP) from the multipoint node. Due to the transmission delays across the link, an erroneous queue value can be recorded at the central node when permits and a request for permits are sent at about the same time. This problem is overcome and the transfer capacity improved when the central node holds a record of the permits sent during the preceding round trip delay. Any incoming request for permits is then adjusted by the number of stored permits before it is utilised to update the queue record.
Dans une liaison multipoint à point, les paquets (T) sont transmis à un noeud central (10) via un support partagé en réponse à des permis (TP). Le noeud central (10) émet des permis pour un noeud multipoint (20) en fonction d'un enregistrement de longueur de file d'attente (11) tenu à jour au niveau du noeud central. L'enregistrement de longueur de file d'attente est mis à jour à la réception d'un compte rendu de longueur de file d'attente (demande de permis) (RP) provenant du noeud multipoint. En raison des retards de transmission par la liaison, une valeur de file d'attente erronée peut être enregistrée au niveau du noeud central lorsque des permis et une demande de permis sont envoyés sensiblement au même moment. Ce problème est résolu, et la capacité de transfert est améliorée lorsque le noeud central tient à jour un enregistrement des permis envoyés pendant le retard d'aller et retour précédent. Toute demande de permis entrante est alors corrigée du nombre de permis stockés avant qu'elle ne serve à la mise à jour de l'enregistrement de file d'attente.
