ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A quick acting test plug for sealing of the open end of a drillstem box includes a cap portion which has seals to engage the terminal end of the drillstem box and movable locking means to grip the inside threads of the drillstem box. Means are provided to move the segments into locking and unlocking positions inside the drillstem box and to force the cap down into a sealing position on the end of the drillstem box.
