ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention QUICK CONCRETE INSERT or KWIKSERT relates to an insert in concrete which when used ensures easy fit of a threaded rod or a threaded bolt into the split-nut of the KWIKSERT. The concept of a KWIKSERT can be utilized in elevated concrete slabs to hang equipment, piping, cable trays, light fixtures, etc. or it can be used to fasten railway rails, hand rails, park benches or stadium seats to concrete slabs, or it can also be used to join together castings of precasted concrete for overpasses or bridges, utility poles for traffic light stanchions, window sash, window louvers, etc. In its simplest form it consists of a housing which looks like a pyramid and inside the housing, a split nut, and a spring to keep the nut in position under no load, a housing cap and a plug. The plug serves a dual purpose of a location positioner for the insert and it prohibits the entering of fluids during the concrete pour to the inner section. To hang or connect a rod to the KWIKSERT simply push the rod through the hole which will tend to push up the split nut, thus enlarging the nut hole opening. After the rod has been inserted and pushed up sufficiently to the KWIKSERT chamber or when the rod has hit the cap it can then be turned in a clockwise direction to ensure a proper fit or interlocking of the rod threads into the threaded nut and eventually the nut will set into the lowest position. When the rod is loaded it will pull the split nut to its lowest position. The material of fabrication for the housing and cap can be metallic or synthetic, such as plastics. The split nut material is of hardend steel or some other hardened alloy and where required it can be coated for corrosion mitigation. After installation if the KWIKSERT will not be utilized the plug can remain in position which can be "flush" with the concrete ceiling in a residential type installation. In a commercial type installation or in installations where false ceilings are used the plug may protrude.
