ABSTRACT The driving stud of a socket wrench includes an aperture through which a detent protrudes to lock a socket thereon. A push bar mounted in the head of the socket wrench is notched to receive the detent and may be shifted to allow retraction of the detent and release of the socket. The notch is formed with a trough to prevent twisting of the push bar with respect to the axis of the aperture and to insure the proper seating of the detent on two surfaces of the trough.
