A window assembly (10) for use in mass transit vehicles which allows the quick and easy removal and replacement of transparent, sacrificial glazing panels (16) of the window from vandalism and wear. The frame (12) of the window assembly incorporates one or more retainers (31) which fit into slots (30) along the interior sides of the window frame and sandwich the glazing between the frame and the retainers. In turn, the retainers (32) are essentially "locked" into position in the frame by an inner protective panel (16), which significantly inhibits the removal of the retainers from the window assembly when the protective panel is in its desired position against the window panel (14). Once the inner protective panel (16) is removed from the window assembly, however, the retainers and glazing can quickly and easily be removed from the frame, allowing the glazing and any remaining protective panels to be quickly and easily removed from the frame.
L'invention concerne un ensemble fenêtre destiné à être utilisé dans des transports publics et permettant de remplacer rapidement et facilement les panneaux de verre jetables qui protègent les glaces contre le vandalisme et l'usure. L'ensemble fenêtre utilise un système de panneau de protection jetable et de dispositif de montage, ledit système permettant de remplacer rapidement et facilement les panneaux protecteurs d'un ou des deux côtés de l'ensemble fenêtre mais empêchant leur enlèvement par des personnes non autorisées tel que les vandales. Le cadre de l'ensemble fenêtre comprend une ou plusieurs fixations qui rentrent dans des fentes faites le long des côtés intérieurs du cadre de la fenêtre et qui pressent la glace contre le cadre. Ces fixations sont "verrouillées" dans une position donnée dans le cadre par un panneau de protection interne qui rend très difficile l'enlèvement des fixations de l'ensemble fenêtre lorsque le panneau protecteur est placé dans une position désirée par rapport à une vitre. Cependant, une fois que le panneau de protection interne est retiré de l'ensemble fenêtre, les fixations et la glace peuvent être rapidement et facilement retirées du cadre, ce qui permet à son tour d'enlever rapidement et facilement du cadre la glace et tout panneau de protection restant.
