Quick Removal Apparatus and Method for Lantern Rings and Packing in Pump Assemblies ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a system for facili- tating the removal of the lantern ring and packing in pump assemblies. Previously a steel hook was used to scrape away the worn packing. The present invention provides a series of cables extending through the lantern ring which permit the lantern ring and packing to be easily pulled out when replacement is required.
