The invention relates to a quinolinecarboxylic acid derivative of the following general formula [I] or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of [I]. Image [ I ] wherein Z represents substituted or unsubstituted cyclic amino or phenyl; A represents >C=CH2 or >CHR1 (R1 : fluoroalkyl); R2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, or halogen; and R3 represents hydrogen or alkyl. The compound of the invention is effective in various infectious diseases and is particularly useful for the treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and new quinolone-resistant, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
