An extensive and intensive study was made on an NAD(P)H oxidase inhibitor. As a result, it was confirmed that a quinolone derivative having, at position-2, an alkyl group substituted by a hetero atom or the like had a good NAD(P)H oxidase inhibition activity. The compound has an inhibitory activity on the production of an active oxygen species, which relies on its NAD(P)H oxidase inhibition activity. Therefore, the compound can be used as a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, hyperlipemia, fatty liver, a diabetic complication and the like.

Il a été réalisé une étude vaste et intensive sur un inhibiteur de la NAD(P)H oxydase. Comme résultat, il a été confirmé qu'un dérivé de quinolone présentant, en position 2, un groupe alkyle substitué par un hétéroatome ou analogues possédait une bonne activité d'inhibition de la NAD(P)H oxydase. Le composé possède une activité inhibitrice sur la production d'une espèce active oxygénée qui repose sur son activité d'inhibition de la NAD(P)H oxydase. Par conséquent, le composé peut être utilisé en tant qu'agent prophylactique et/ou thérapeutique pour le diabète, une altération de la tolérance au glucose, une hyperlipémie, une stéatose hépatique, une complication diabétique et analogues.
