-9- Abstract Radial Diverter Microwave Load A calorimetric load for very high microwave power at very high frequencies is formed by a metallic, cylindrical chamber 32 into which the waveguide 30 carrying the power opens. Inside the metallic cylinder 32 is a coaxial dielectric cylinder 38, with a space between full of circulating wave- absorbing fluid 40 such as water. The incoming wave may be in a higher-order mode. To make it disperse rapidly into the absorbing fluid, a conical reflector 42 is located inside the dielectric cylinder 32 to reflect the wave outward.
