A method of manufacture of a long radial-flow filter particularly suitable for use as an input filter in a subterranean fluid (oil, gas, water) well starts with a length of multi-perforate pipe, which may be an integral part of the well's production tubing. The pipe is mounted in an engine lathe with the perforated length between the headstock and the tailstock of the lathe. With the pipe rotating, a strip of metal (steel) wool is wrapped around the pipe in repeated, overlapping helical layers each aligned at an acute angle X to the pipe axis, with adjacent layers angularly displaced by 2X. The completed filter has a tubular wire mesh around the pipe, between the pipe and the innermost layer of steel wool, and a multi-perforate sheath over the outermost layer of wool.
La méthode de fabrication d'un long filtre à écoulement radial particulièrement adapté à une utilisation comme filtre d'injection dans un puits souterrain produisant un fluide (pétrole, gaz, eau) fait appel à une longueur de tube à perforations multiples, qui peut intégralement faire partie du tube de production du puits. Le tube est monté sur un tour à moteur la longueur perforée se trouvant entre la poupée fixe et la poupée mobile du tour. Lorsque le tube tourne, une bande de laine métallique (acier) est enroulée autour du tube en couches hélicoïdales répétées qui se chevauchent, chacune étant alignée selon un angle aigu X par rapport à l'axe du tube, les couches adjacentes étant déplacées selon un angle 2X. Le filtre terminé compte un grillage métallique tubulaire autour du tube, entre le tube et la couche de laine d'acier qui se trouve le plus à l'intérieur, et une gaine munie de multiples perforations sur la couche de laine métallique qui se trouve le plus à l'extérieur.
