A method and apparatus for granulating previously molded solid thermoplastic material for recycling by introducing the previously molded thermoplastic material into a cylindrical granulating zone in a direction parallel with the axis of the cylinder, providing a stationary knife at a cylindrical boundary of the granulating zone, moving a second knife along the cylindrical boundary of the granulating zone to pass in proximity to the stationary knife and thereby trap portions of the previously molded thermoplastic material therebetween to cut the previously molded thermoplastic material into granules, providing an apertured surface as a portion of the cylindrical boundary and sweeping portions of the previously molded thermoplastic material along the apertured surface with the moving knife to cause cut portions of the previously molded thermoplastic material having granule size less than that of the apertures to pass therethrough for recycling by subsequent molding or other processing.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant d'effectuer la granulation d'un matériau thermoplastique solide, moulé au préalable, de façon à le recycler par introduction dudit matériau dans une zone de granulation cylindrique, dans un sens parallèle à l'axe du cylindre. Le procédé consiste à fournir un couteau fixe au niveau d'une limite cylindrique de la zone de granulation, à déplacer un second couteau le long de cette limite, de façon à passer à proximité du couteau fixe, et à piéger des parties du matériau thermoplastique solide, moulé au préalable, entre les couteaux et à couper ledit matériau en granules. Le procédé consiste également à fournir une surface perforée sous forme d'une partie de la limite cylindrique et à éliminer des parties dudit matériau sur la surface perforée à l'aide du couteau fixe, de façon à amener les parties coupées du matériau à une taille de granule inférieure à celle des perforations, ce qui leur permet de passer à travers lesdites perforations de façon à être recyclées pour un moulage ultérieur ou un autre traitement.
