A radial shaft seal comprising a stiffening ring (1), a sealing shaft lip (4) and an annular seal (5). The lip and the seal are connected by radial continuations (6) passing through recesses in the stiffening ring (1) as a unitary piece. The annular seal (5) is installed in a separate recess (12) in the stiffening ring (1) and is of a thickness that increases radially in the direction of a strike surface (9) on the installing tool receiving end of the radial shaft seal.
