A radially shrinkable cylindrical sleeve for enclosing a connection or a terminal, respectively, of a medium voltage electrical cable, the cable including a conductor, an insulation surrounding the conductor, and a shielding layer surrounding the insulation. The sleeve comprises an inner layer including a cylindrical end portion at least at one extremity of the sleeve, the end portion being of dielectric material adapted to engage said shielding layer and a second portion of conductive or semi-conductive material located between the ends of the sleeve spaced from the end portion adapted to engage the conductor or a sleeve-shaped connector element interconnecting two conductors. A middle layer of electrically insulating material is bonded to the end portion and median portion and an outer layer of electrically semi-conductive material. The layers are elastomeric and adapted to be retained in a radially expanded state by a removable inner support means, preferably a support core inserted into the sleeve in its radially expanded state.
