ABSTRACT A high intensity radiant electric space heater, suitable for rooms with low ceilings. The heater is designed for mounting to the ceiling near the wall. The heater consists of a reflector and several high temperature elements. The elements are mounted end to end. The elements are energized in sequence. Each individual element is glowing for a short part of the cycle. The practical effect is similar to a beam of high intensity heatrays travelling across the room, resting in each part of the room a short time before continuing its travel. The heat output is modulated by controlling the length of this dwell time. Elements remain at optimum radiation temperature. Control can be achieved with electro-mechanical or solid state electronic devices. The visual effect is that of a valance with a softly glowing line moving slowly along it.
