A dipole microwave applicator emits microwave radiation into tissue to be treated. The applicator is formed from a thin coax cable having an inner conductor surrounded by an insulator, which is surrounded by an outer conductor. A portion of the inner conductor extends beyond the insulator and the outer conductor. A ferrule at the end of the outer conductor has a step and a sleeve that surrounds a portion of the extended inner conductor. A tuning washer is attached to the end of the extended inner conductor. A dielectric tip encloses the tuning washer, the extended inner conductor, and the sleeve of the ferrule. The sleeve of the ferrule and the extended inner conductor operate as the two arms of the dipole microwave antenna. The tuning washer faces the step in the ferrule, and is sized and shaped to cooperate with the step in balancing and tuning the applicator.
La présente invention concerne un applicateur de micro-onde dipôle qui émet un rayonnement micro-onde dans un tissu à traiter. L~applicateur est formé d~un mince câble coaxial comportant un conducteur interne entouré par un isolant, qui est entouré par un conducteur externe. Une partie du conducteur interne s~étend au-delà de l~isolant et du conducteur externe. Une virole au niveau de l~extrémité du conducteur externe comporte un palier et un manchon qui entoure une partie du conducteur interne étendu. Une rondelle d~accord est fixée à l~extrémité du conducteur interne étendu. Une pointe diélectrique contient ladite rondelle, le conducteur interne étendu et le manchon de la virole. Ce dernier et le conducteur interne étendu fonctionnent comme les deux bras de l~antenne micro-onde doublet. Ladite rondelle fait face au palier de la virole et est dimensionnée et formée pour coopérer avec le palier lors de l~équilibrage et de l~accord de l~applicateur.
