0990p(FF) Brown & Patnaik Case 1 RADIATION-CURABLE BLEND OF A CELLULOSE ESTER AND A MULTIFUNCTIONAL (METH)ACRYLATE Abstract of the Disclosure A coating composition for protecting wood and other surfaces comprises a radiation-curable blend of (1) 30%-70% of a cellulose ester, (2) 70%-30% of at least one acrylic or methacrylic ester having more than two (meth)acrylate groups, and (3) 0.1%-10% of a photoinitiator, all percentages being based on the weight of solids. In coatings particularly suited for application over oleophilic color coats for wood, the (meth)acrylic ester having more than two (meth)acrylate groups is a polyurethane (meth)acrylate substituted by alkyl groups having at least 8 carbon atoms.
