Abstract of the Disclosure: This invention is an aqueous-based, UV radiation-curable coating composition containing a latex polymer emulsion and a multifunctional (meth)acrylate, where the latex polymer is selected to be greater than about 47 mole % acrylate and to have a glass transition temperature less than about 28°C. This selection of composition and glass transition temperature yields a UV-curable coating with superior direct impact properties which are useful for wood coating applications.
