The invention relates to a radiation curable compound being a mono or multi valent carboxylic ester of a compound containing a hydroxyalkylamidegroup and a hydroxygroup in which the carboxylic ester is derived from an .alpha.,.beta.- ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid. A coating composition comprising this compound has a high rate of poylmerisation and shows the desired chemical and mechanical properties.

L'invention concerne un composé durcissable par radiation, constituant un ester carboxylique mono ou multivalent d'un composé contenant un groupe hydroxyalkylamide et un groupe hydroxy, dans lequel l'ester carboxylique est dérivé d'un acide carboxylique insaturé en .alpha.,.beta.-éthylène. Une composition de revêtement comprenant ledit composé présente une vitesse de polarisation élevée ainsi que les propriétés chimiques et mécaniques voulues.
