A radiation delivery catheter (10) that is compatible with a transfer device wherein the radiation delivery catheter (10) is a component of a system designed to reduce the frequency of restenosis in coronary arteries after ballon angioplasty or other interventional procedures. The catheter is inserted into the patient using a guidewire and the distal tip (26) of the catheter (10) is guided to a treatement site in the artery for radioactive treatment.
