A method and apparatus (10) for irradiating material (14), such as tissue in a patient, is described. The method features the step of first exposing the tissue (14) with a radiation. Following the exposing step, the radiation is partially re-emitted (e.g., reflected or scattered) from the tissue (14). The re-emitted radiation is then collected and imaged back onto the tissue (14) using an external irradiating device (13), containing, for example a hemispherically shaped reflective housing (13). The housing contains a reflective coating (30) disposed on one of its surfaces.

Cette invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif (10) permettant d'irradier une matière (14), par exemple un tissu (14) sélectionné chez un patient. Le procédé consiste à exposer, en premier lieu, ledit tissu (14) à un rayonnement. A la suite de cette exposition, le rayonnement est partiellement réémis (par exemple, réfléchi ou diffusé) par le tissu (14). Ce rayonnement réémis est alors récupéré et renvoyé vers la surface dudit tissu (14) au moyen d'un dispositif (13) d'irradiation externe contenant, par exemple, un bâti réfléchissant de forme hémisphérique, une des surfaces dudit bâti étant recouverte d'un revêtement (30) réfléchissant.
