Provided is a packaging material or article or medical device, prepared for radiation sterilization of itself, its contents, or combinations, or which has been exposed to radiation sufficient for such sterilization; comprising a blend to from about 99 % to about 50 % by weight homo or copolymerized polypropylene which includes about 1% to about 50 % by weight polyethylene produced by single-site catalysis. Also provided is a process for making such radiation tolerant packaging material, article or medical device.
Matériau d'emballage, article ou dispositif médical élaborés en vue de la stérilisation par rayonnement de lui-même, de son contenu, ou de l'un et l'autre, ou qui a été soumis à un rayonnement suffisant pour une telle stérilisation. Ce matériau consiste en un mélange d'environ 99 à 50 % en poids de polypropylène homo- ou copolymérisé, qui renferme environ 1 à 50 % en poids de polyéthylène produit par catalyse sur site unique. L'invention porte également sur un procédé de fabrication d'un tel matériau d'emballage, d'un tel article ou d'un tel dispositif médical résistant au rayonnement.
