A first section of a radio frequency choke formed of 16 gage wire extends in fourteen turns around a ferrite coil form with a shunt resistor extending from the end of the coil connected to an AC or DC power signal transmission point to the midpoint of the 16 gage wire coil. A second coil formed of 18 gage wire extends in 4.5 turns on the coil form and is connected to the end of the first coil on the form. The 18 gage wire coil section is connected to the feed path that transmits both the power signal and the radio frequency signal. The 16 gage wire coil section has increased current carrying capacity to withstand the adverse effects associated with telecommunica- tions signals transmitted at 15 amps and above. The selected wire gage and number of turns is capable of operating at higher temperature and higher current without experiencing a reduction in the capability of the radio frequency choke to pass the AC power signal separated from the RF signal. The total number of turns on the coil form provide sufficient inductance to the radio frequency signal path to promote a usable RF bandwidth from 5 MHz to 1 GHz for the diplexing circuitry.
