ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a radio relay system which only requires one frequency channel for a two-way connection between two parties and wherein the called party can, at his discretion, simultaneously reverse the relay direction dur- ing an exchange of information. In the single frequency channel provided for a connection of two subscribers the flow of information from the transmitting subscriber (calling party connection) is interrupted at preferably regular chronological intervals for a period which is preferably very brief in com- parison with the transmitting time, in order that a return connection may be formed in the form of a time slot channel of a capacity which is low in comparison with the actual frequency channel. Information of the return connection is transmitted in said time slot channel.
