An alerting device, such as a radio (10), activates, responsive to the times when an information signal (12) is received, a silent alert, via a vibrator (24), during a first predetermined time period, and an audible alert, via a loudspeaker (22), during a second predetermined time period, exclusive of the first predetermined time period. A radio user can configure the priority and the duration of the silent and audible alerts. The radio (10) also detect the reception of the information signal and the intercoupling between an accessory 51 to the radio 10. Responsive to the detection thereof, the radio (10) activates the audible alert. Thus, the user gains a high degree of confidence that the radio (10) will activate the proper alert in situations having a wide range of ambient noise levels and distances of the radio relative to the user's body.
L'invention concerne un dispositif d'alarme, tel qu'une radio (10) qui, en réaction aux périodes où un signal d'information est reçu, déclenche une alarme silencieuse par l'intermédiaire d'un vibrateur (24), lors d'une première période prédéterminée, et une alarme sonore par l'intermédiaire d'un haut-parleur (22) lors d'une seconde période prédéterminée, à l'exclusion de la première période prédéterminée. L'utilisateur de la radio peut agencer la priorité et la durée des alarmes silencieuse et sonore. La radio (10 ) peut aussi détecter la réception du signal d'information et l'interconnexion entre un accessoire (51) et la radio (10). Sensible à cette détection, la radio (10) déclenche l'alarme sonore. Ainsi, l'utilisateur peut être sûr que la radio (10) déclenchera l'alarme correcte dans des situations englobant une large gamme de niveaux de bruit ambiant et de distances entre la radio et le corps de l'utilisateur.
