A dental film-base radiograph which is rel- atively small of the order of 40 mm by 30 mm is scanned and converted to a digital image by mounting the radiograph on a table movable in single direction at a transparent aperture of the ta- ble and by transmitting through the radiograph a beam of laser light from a line source with the line parallel to the radiograph and defining a col- limated beam of parallel light at right angles to the line and lying in a single plane containing the line. A detector in the form of linear array of CCD detector elements is arranged in the plane to receive the light passing through the radiograph. The whole is contained in an enclosure to exclude ambient light. The scanning movement can be ef- fected step by step or continuously with the laser source pulsed.

Une radiographie de film radiographique dentaire, qui est relativement petite (40 x 30 mm environ), est soumise à un balayage et à une conversion en image numérique lorsqu'on la monte sur une table, mobile dans une seule direction, pour qu'elle atteigne une fenêtre transparente ménagée dans cette table. On fait alors passer au travers de cette radiographie un faisceau de lumière laser provenant d'une source linéaire dont la ligne est parallèle à la radiographie et définit un faisceau collimaté de lumière parallèle faisant un angle droit avec la ligne et situé dans le même plan que la ligne. Un détecteur, prenant la forme d'un ensemble linéaire d'éléments de détection à DIC, est disposé dans ce plan pour recevoir la lumière traversant la radiographie. Le tout est contenu dans une enceinte de protection contre la lumière ambiante. Le mouvement de balayage peut s'effectuer pas à pas ou en continu, la source laser étant plusée.
